West, Zampella to sue Activision

We posted here yesterday that two Infinity Ward heads were possibly fired from the studio by Activision for insubordination. The two men, who have been fired, are now planning to sue the publisher for wrongful dismissal; the rights to the Modern Warfare IP and for unpaid royalties that they claim are due to them.

 This could get ugly

This comes from a statement issued by their attorneys, O'Melveny & Myers LLP, when they filed a lawsuit against Activision in Los Angeles yesterday. West and Zampella’s attorney Robert Schwartz said, “Instead of thanking, lauding, or just plain paying Jason and Vince for giving Activision the most successful entertainment product ever offered to the public, last month Activision hired lawyers to conduct a pretextual 'investigation' into unstated and unsubstantiated charges of 'insubordination' and 'breach of fiduciary duty,' which then became the grounds for their termination on Monday, March 1st."

West and Zampella were co-founders of Infinity Ward, which was acquired by Activision in late 2003. Activision released information regarding  planned titles in the Call of Duty series when they confirmed that the former Infinity Ward heads had been dismissed.
