Gamers adapt better to battlefield conditions
The
U.S. Department of Defence (Defense if you are an American) has posted
a story about the Office of Naval Research’s work with videogame
training. It appears that exposure to video games improves perceptual
and cognitive ability in soldiers, according to Program Officer Ray
Perez.
Perez, who works for the Office of Naval Research’s Warfighter Performance department,
has noticed that those who have undergone videogame training are more
adaptable in the field, a trait that he refers to as ‘fluid
intelligence’. This is in addition to other benefits that have been
noted, in Perez’s words, “… video games can increase perceptual
abilities and short-term memory. They allow the player to focus longer
and expand the player’s field of vision compared to people who don’t
play video games”.
There appears to be a marked difference in results using old training
methods and videogame training, almost conclusively ruling out the
factor that soldiers who are naturally more perceptive and adaptable
are draw to the training program.

chipset a total of 38 PCI-E lanes which are split between four PCI-E
x16 slots which will have 8 lanes each, a single PCI-E x4 slot and two
